San Diego’s urban neighborhoods,
many of them over 100 years old, tell a fascinating story of our city’s
rich cultural and architectural past.
Many reminders of our rich past remain today including homes, businesses,
parks, signs, and stories of the many men and women who helped to shape
early San Diego. These reminders are a vital part of our communities and
significantly contribute to the character of our older neighborhoods.
As San Diego’s population continues to expand, pressure to develop
or redevelop our older communities increases. The Neighborhood Historic
Preservation Coalition is dedicated to preserving the historic aspects
of our urban neighborhoods that help to make them such special places
to live and work.
